The night was pitch dark. I had just watched using my OWN TWO EYES "The American Ghost Story," by way of Red Box. I got scared.
Then I started thinking about ghosts and I saw some shadows in the room I was laying in, as it was very late at night and I was going to retire to bed for the night until morning, in which I'd rise. They were spooky. I wonder if because I watched a movie about ghosts I suddenly became more aware of their existence?!? I also read about ghosts on the Internet the same day.
They prefer to be referred to as Spirits not ghosts and it is more than likely your over active imagination that has caused you to be scared.
Quit watching things like that if you cannot handle it.

I agree, people sensitive to the supernatural in movies tend to create their own experience out of normal shadows.
It was on your mind due to the movie. I think it's unlikely there were any ghosts. One thing can be determined-It must have been a good film that had an impression on you. Good you spent the time not being disappointed.
I think you may have talked yourself into it, too -- it's easy to do. At the building I work, we had a flood which caused a great deal of damage. Now everyone thinks every shadow on the carpet if more water....
I'm interested in what the ghosts/spirits looked like and how large they were. Human form, orbs, any colors, small and creepy, did they move around the room? I have seen different kinds of those things. I won't watch scarcely movies at night. Even watching horror in the daytime, (when I did a long time ago) something would lodge in my mind and I would have a dream and I would be scared and it didn't have to be the creature from the movie, it could be a person stalking me. I would feel the same scared feeling I felt when watching the movie.
It could have been real. A tv, computer screen can be a open portal depending on what you're looking at or reading. Not trying to scare you but just a heads up. If it's something there and it doesn't hurt or bother you, then there's nothing to be worried about. Just in case, you could just nicely ask it to leave. Hopefully you don't get a a-hole like the one that's lingering around me and refuse to leave.

You need to cleanse your home with a smudge stick of white sage then light a white candle and tell the spirit it is limited to being outside and is not allowed inside your home, vehicle, cannot go with you when you leave and cannot bother your family or neighbors.
Then light a purple candle and a blue candle, it may not want to be limited to being outside of the home but it will comply. It may take a few times for you doing this though before it does comply.
