Why do you think we don't remember our past lives ? What could be the reason? if we're here to learn lessons what's the point of forgetting everything we knew....
If we, indeed, have past lives, but do not remember them, I don't see the problem...in fact, it is probably a good thing.
We are who we are NOW with our biological makeup, etc., and perhaps some inheritance from past lives. The point of living is to deal with what are this life, not to be involved in the fabulous Hollywood movies of former lives.
The bottom line of past lives is imbedded within our makeup and that's what we have to work with, we don't need the distracting claptrap of a back story. Total waste of time, and an inappropriate use of the life we are living NOW.
I have enough on my plate with THIS lifetime. I don't know for certain if everything or anything is related to a past life or not, but I am too busy with this one to want to remember all the stuff life throws at a person from other lives. For heaven's sake, I have enough gray hair!
joe has a good point,,,what if he did have 4 past lives, two as a man and 1 as a woman, and 1 he was confused,,,
what a devil's soup for the mind and soul that would be..
we'd all be like those old men in the malls,,,staring out in space,,,wondering how they got there
Good topic, I usually have deja vu type elements pertaining to snow, cold, marching, hunger. I firmly believe I was either a German at Stalingrad or with Napoleon in Moscow.
If we're reincarnated beings, remembering our past lives would be too much of a distraction. What if you were a criminal or had other big regrets in your past life? You don't want that baggage in your current life. Or what if you were royalty and are now a struggling commoner? That "loss" wouldn't be much fun either.
The concept of reincarnation is a spiritual matter, so I'd think that's where any inter-life carryover would be. We'd probably need to have a great deal of spiritual accomplishment to access that, if it could be accessed at all. We'd need that spiritual accomplishment in order to handle such access.

I do actually remember my past lives at least 8-10 of them through dreams mostly.
But most people don't,why do some remember and others don't.
You don't remember your past lives because all your memory is stored in your brain. When it dies, so do your memories and your personality.
I've explained that I remember 8-10 of mine.i think the personality is in the soul personally.
OP, I came across an answer to your question somewhere....maybe in one of the NDE testimonials on youtube. If the past life memories didn't fade, we'd spend too much time concerned with the life immediately preceding the present one, and wouldn't give ourselves fully to the current lifetime and its challenges. Some people who do remember their past life and their family members from that time, aren't able to leave that behind, and spend a lot of time and effort in finding their loved ones and reconnecting with them. In a way, they live with a foot in both lifetimes, which could get troublesome.
Are you aware of a youtube series called "Afterlife TV"? It hosts interviews with near-death experiencers. Fascinating. Google it.
By the same token, some people live in the past of this lifetime, so maybe either you are that kind of person who dwells on the past or maybe you are not. Either way there is plenty of evidence of past lives and so then it becomes a matter of belief.
As I said earlier, there are out of body techniques which are said to allow access to that faculty and I would say that past life knowledge of wider experiences would give us a greater understanding of life and its proper context. If we have the right context into which we can place our this-life experiences then we can handle the current-life situations in a more reasonable manner and maybe we dont go out shooting everyone we see at the mall.
