Not all people who believe they are clairvoyant are dillusional. Now anyone who believes something that is not so...ok..however, I have visions, I can remote view, I'm not dillusional about these things as they always pan out.

Nostradamus could have filled a social gap as was mentioned, he could have been genuine as well. There IS a future to be seen, but until it unfolds, there are many possibilities. Typically future forecasts are highly likely, yet are subject to change. So when someone says they see the future, I guarantee that they will admit, this vision is NOT set in stone, it's just the most probable at this time.

I've been pretty good within my future speculations, be it from just logic or intuition...so it is possible to predict it accurately. With or without "special powers". Could be that deductive reasoning of futures was this guys talent.
