The mod there killed the thread. Perhaps that's best.

Hmmm. I don't see anything posted by you in that forum. Wow if they removed it totally, not just locked it...maybe we should ask exactly how much younger this person is and if we are treading into an illegal topic here.
Anyways get any silly reincarnation thoughts out of your mind. The laws of attraction is a mystery in and by itself that need no supernatural explanation.

I met him initially when he was 16. He's 26 now and I'm 57. It's not romantic love. It's agape, universal love, and the sense that I've know this person before in another time and place. I've often felt that I was living in Japan in a past life. I think that's where I knew him. I'm not sure if he was my husband or my son or my brother.

I would add that there's all kinds of love. It doesn't have to be expressed sexually, and nevertheless can be deep and meaningful.

I just watched an old ''Celebrity Ghost Story'' where John Schneider talks about being the reincarnation of his younger brother who died before he was born. I've no doubt that we can encounter souls in the present that we've known in the past.
I can think of several people that I've known over the years where I also felt that I'd known them before in some kind of capacity. There was no romance in either situation but just a sense of instant ''knowing'' or connection.

Yes, I believe in reincarnation. Does this guy feel the same? Have you asked him? Even if he doesn't believe in reincarnation, he may feel a connection with you. Ofcourse, it is easier for me to accept reincarnation since I was brought up in Buddhist religion by my parents. I have decided to be Christian.
However, I do believe that some people reincarnate, some people go to heaven or hell, and some are stuck as ghosts. I know that I have been here before - several times- and I have committed suicide in my past lives. I also know that my path is to go on living in this life time and not commit suicide again. I need to learn whatever it is that I am supposed to learn. I don't know if you are in California. But there are several buddhist temples in LA and one in Irvine. You can talk to the monks about reincarnation. I remember being 5 years old and the monk told my grandmother that I would not be a buddhist. My grandmother argued with him (not in a mean way) but he was right. Now how did he know that? Also, not all monks can see your past or the future. Only the englightened monks can do that.

Yes, while maintaining the position of a free thinker (in the Dawkins, Hutchins, Dennet, Russell, Harris tradition), I am attracted to Buddhism, and yogic practices in particular. Cognitive dissonance at its finest!!

I have not talked to this person about this; I do not wish to interfere in their life in any way and will wait for them to address me about it, if they ever do.

Dennett is two t's and it won't let me edit. But I actually agree with the poster who said there are psychological reasons that people seem to experience the paranormal, and that it's not real. The human brain attempts to put together phenomena in such a way that it makes sense.

As for my attraction to and interest in Buddhism, I should know better.

I see nothing wrong with an attraction and interest in Buddhism. Interest is interest. Once you stop being interested in things is when there are problems IMHO.

If you ever have a true ''paranormal'' experience you may change your thinking. Things can, and do, happen that a person does not just ''conjure up'' in their mind. They are outside, actual realities that are often beyond explanation.
