Just a thought , but I do hope there is not a cause in your home such as bad wiring or something else to end up hurting you or your loved ones or your home .
Thanks for sharing the experience. Our doctor has said similar (after all of the requisite testing, of course).

It's not neighbors or wiring or anything else to do with the house.

Thank you all for replying ... If I ever find out--no matter how far into the future--I will come back and post.

That's fascinating. Smell is closely linked to memory, and is also closely tied to our emotions. When I smell Chapstick, I think of a girl I kissed nearly 50 years ago and I'm back in the car in January, 1970 kissing her while Bridge Over Troubled Waters played on the radio.

There have been a few times when someone is home with me and I will call them into the room and see if they smell it and they never do.

It has been occurring pretty regularly, but I can't pin down any specific patterns. My family is somewhat superstitious and I totally am not. But it's been occurring so frequently that I thought I would ask what you all think on this forum.

If I had to describe it, it feels and smells like someone is smoking a pleasant-smelling cigarette or cigar right to the left or in front of me.
It could be phantosmia (an olfactory hallucination). See: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-...a/faq-20058131

Talk to your doctor. Mine took it seriously enough that they sent me to a neurologist. It turned out to be harmless, but in some people it can be a sign of the onset of serious seizure activity.

I occasionally smell cigarette smoke--STRONG, which has always caused me to to feel nauseated. When it occurs I always look all over to try to find the source, but can never find it! No one is walking by our house smoking, no smoke coming over neighbor fences. It's truly been baffling! I've actually begun wondering if it is spirit smoke I'm smelling. My father was the only passed-on person I know who smoked, but he quit 20 years before his death, so cigarette smoke was not something readily identified as being very "him". ::shrug::

is it possible that it is a relative that smoked that you don't know about maybe say an uncle on your fathers side ? I still smell smoke from a dearly departed fiancé that died while were dating and his mother knew he had leukemia and never said a word to me . we were engaged at the time of his death and it effected me very deeply .These kinds of things leave very deep imprints on our minds . I still smell my grandmothers Shalimar perfume . I kid you not . At times I still do . My dearly departed fiancé wore Stetson which was very popular back then and I still smell that too . Yep sure do . I know I am not crazy but I do believe that love can transcend the grave .

Thanks for the responses guys.
Get a new doctor. Smelling smoke or other acrid odors that others cannot is called phantosmia and can be a symptom of brain seizures, epilepsy, Alsheimer's and other neurological disorders. Some studies have concluded that it is not a sign of stroke, but that doesn't discount other neurological issues.

It may be nothing, but seriously, if it is concerning enough to you to have visited the doctor once, get a second opinion from a doctor who discounts, at least for medical purposes, the possibility that it is your old, dead Uncle Al blowing smoke rings from the beyond.

Then, if it is determined that it is not a medical issue, go ahead and look for a paranormal explanation.

I have heard smelling strange smells can be a sign of brain tumor.

Yes winterbird go to the dr and put your mind at ease . It is probably nothing but could be paranormal as I explained but could be something better to know than not know right ? Good luck to you .

Thank you all for the concern. As I mentioned, this has been happening off and on for a number of years, so I have been through the battery of tests, and have been seen by more than one doctor/specialist.

I appreciate the responses Have a great weekend, all.
