These mysterious booms received a LOT of attention about four years ago from a young man posting under the name United Knowledge who had a LOT of documentary evidence linking the booms to earthquake activity. However, he -- at least to my knowldge -- stopped posting about three years ago with no explanation. What impressed me was that he had facts and not some "personal knowledge from the Lord". In other words, he was not some kind of quack -- or if he was, he fooled me and many other supposedly intelligent people. He systematically debunked every government explanation -- and now ALL his videos seem to have disappeared from YouTube altogether. (If I am mistaken about that, and anyone has the link, please let me know!) This is the only link I could find.

Trying to label them to a particular cause is almost impossible since there are so many natural or manmade causes and also, sound drifts depending on atmospheric conditions, particularly low frequency sound waves. You just cannot pinpoint where it originates from:
Military supersonic aircraft
Low level earthquakes
Rogue superwaves (if living on the coast)
Volcanic activity/venting of gases
Distant Thunder
Meteors
Fireworks or explosives
Rock Bursts

Thanks for that link! Sorry I can't give you rep points as I am "out" for today!
Anyway, I readily admit -- and I think that "United Knowledge" did, too -- that those things in the above list can account for many of the booms, but that just one thing cannot account for ALL of them.
I cannot help thinking that any airman who broke the sound barrier over land these days would face disciplinary action.
I feel that these sounds might be due to Earth changes such as tectonic plates rubbing against each other. As others have said maybe this could be caused by some kind of military exercise or new weapon testing. A third possibility could be some kind of underground tunnel boring or mining perhaps.
