It appears earth lights occur outside the context of earthquakes. For example, there are the Hessdalen lights in Norway, the Marfa lights in Texas. I've seen a video of the Marfa lights close to the ground, and it seemed pretty clear that they were some natural phenomenon issuing from the earth. I believe the Hessdalen lights do indeed appear as orbs.

These kinds of things are seen all over the world all the time. See daily reports on the UFO Stalkers website and MUFON's website.

I have seen an orange fireball move through the sky at night, a green orb streak by, and other varied odd lights with unusual behavior. I have reported a few. West Virginia seems to be a hotspot.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_lightning

Not saying it was but it's a potential explanation. Ball lightning is rare and not well understood. I encountered it briefly several years ago.

The marfa lights of Marfa, Texas have been reported since 1883 and usually appear about 12 times or so per year. No one really knows what they are.
