I find it interesting that the U.S. Gub-Mint decides to lie to the American public and tell us that Amelia and Fred ditched in to the sea after missing Howland Island. Richard Martini has been obsessed about this topic for over 30 years and wants to get at the absolute truth on the matter. I like and respect that. Great story here. Sad ending for Fred and Amelia, but, they were spies, so that's what often happens ta spies.
You think it doesn't matter, that the government lied to the American public (and the world) about one of the most famous and popular. aviators in history? "She crashed in the ocean" was the "fake news" of her time. It's great to finally be able to set the record straight.
My brother made the best joke ever regarding Amelia Earhart. In our town we have a viaduct built in the 1930s. That's a fancy name for a bridge that doesn't go over water. Anyway, it was named after aviator Charles Lindbergh who was a big celebrity at the time.
But he said our town also had an Amelia Earhart Viaduct but nobody knows what happened to it.
Ah, and, it's a big ahh...our internet investigator Richard Martini has done the footwork and interviewed over 200 witnesses on Saipan, whether Native Saipanians or American servicemen. The American servicemen blew open the safecase which contained her passport, flight plan and personal things. They either watched or participated in flying her Electra plane or had a hand in dousing it with fire and filling it full of bullet holes. It's all contained in the Martini research.
Fascinating work, this.
