I don't believe forum rules will permit me to say how I really feel about the ones who take advantage of people who've lost close family members and such so.......
whey the plain denial of the facts in my post? hello?

the psychic did not have any misses, did not have any other information. just listed out the info, one statement after another. very clear, very direct, on the phone with complete strangers. no hits and misses. just hits. one. after. another. this and plenty of other evidence of psychic ability exists. you can not deny the edgar cayce records, or example, or for that matter the experiences of millions of everyday people, in their own lives.

I think some people are skilled in reading another person (be it their facial expressions or mannerisms) and some do have a much closer connection to others...twins, for instance, are very close in an uncanny way...I think our subconscience also plays a part in how well we know another person. We may pick things up about others and temporarily forget them...I don't believe in psychics and the like, I do believe there are things in our brains we don't understand or science hasn't quite figured out yet... lots of paranormal stuff are chemical reactions in our brain, 'wrong' messages being sent. The eye catches light and the brain translates it into images...so if any signal gets messed up, you can get all types of strange results, same goes for hearing, imagination plays a huge part even though we may not realize it at the time. Some are extremely succeptable to things others may never notice, they're just so much more sensitive...
Psychics abuse people when they're most vulnerable and that is criminal IMO, they take advantage of people at their weakest and that's just plain wrong. The fact they want answers to some very private and emotonial questions makes them prime victims for such quacks. The receiver of such info from a psychic is probably giving the answers in the way they speak and someone trained to pick up on things can make a "successful reading" out if it!
I went to a card reader once and realized after I left that I could have been in shock by his answers but when I went through the whole conversation, I realized I had given all the info he needed by my reactions and how he got me to talk about emotional things right at the beginning, so I was vulnerable right away..

I think so haaziq....there was a time when I thought, well hoped, that they were not fake but there's no way anyone can know anyone's future (or past)...why would you not use your knowledge to help others if you're so gifted? Horrible tragedies could be prevented everyday....

What do you think of the psychic detectives we're seeing on television?

I suspect they are doing for science what Gomer Pyle did for the Marine Corps.

AND....... No one, as yet, has been able to collect Houdinis' prize. Before his death, Harry Houdini and his wife agreed on a specific code word as proof if someone were to claim they had been in touch with him from beyond the grave. This word is still worth a whole lot of money. A considerable number of con men and scamsters tried to claim the money, none of them could come up with the right password.

What makes you think they are defying the laws of nature? Maybe it is the other way around...maybe humanity has hindered psychic and '6th sense' abilities. After all, animals have them...

He was very good-natured about it...he said he was the police's dirty little secret, LOL...but if they ever called, he came in. He didn't get paid anything and he didn't achieve any notoriety through it, and he never "advertised" his services or anything...the only reason I knew about it was that he was my aunt and uncle's best friend and any time they had a party or celebration, this man and his wife would be invited, so over time, I found out about it.

Obviously, this guy believed in himself--he wasn't trying to scam anybody. I mean he literally got nothing out of it, as I said, and day-to-day he was a "normal" person with a regular job and all that. Even if he was fooling himself, somehow, he was right. I wouldn't discount the possibility of there being real psychics out there. I just don't think Miss Cleo or Sylvia Browne or any of the "pay me hundreds of dollars" people are. I mean with no emotional involvement, etc., and dealing with dozens of people per day, how could you possibly just "turn it on"?

So, yes, there are scam artists. Dozens upon dozens upon dozens of them. And I believe at the same time, there are actual psychics. And the chance of any of us running into a real psychic, and knowing it or getting any benefit out of it, are very, very, very slim, because from what I saw of my aunt and uncle's friend, they're pretty much embarrassed about it, realize it's something that needs to be hidden, afraid of being called kooks, etc.
There are real psychics who use their gift to help solve crimes and there are scam artists. Everything has the real and the fake - just like in Christianity, for example. The ones who are doing it for the money are obviously not to be trusted. Money corrupts everything.

The fearful hate pretty much everything.

Maybe a small amount of people have this ability, Most do not. Especially those who seek fame over it. I give as much credibility to them as I do televangelists on TV that heal people and make millions appear in their bank accounts overnight.
