For me, Africa has just grown in size

I had no idea that Africa was so large. (click on the first link below) You see the normal Mercator map projections and it does not show Africa as its true relative size. Everything is squeezed in so that it all fits on the page or poster.

To quote from the current book I am reading...

To put it in perspective, the area is roughly equal to the sum of the areas of China,
Europe, India, and the continental USA. Maybe future technology will
offer holographic maps that will redress this imbalance. The predictions
that, by the end of this century, the African population will exceed that
of the rest of the world seem less improbable once we recognize the size
of the continent.

Maybe I am just showing the gaps in my education, but there must be others who did not realise this too.

So, were you aware the maps showing the world also show the size of Africa as smaller than it 'should' be if all the continent sizes were relative to each other?

Yup. The United States could EASILY fit inside North Africa and still have lots of room left over. Africa is massive.

Sadly, must of the population would not even be able to point out Africa on the globe of the world.
