And this was playing out in our present lives. Explained a lot.

She also said to hold on, and not bail on him. The end result would be worth it. Also true.

She didn’t mention that bailing meant in the next life we’d have to do this dance again. Now, we won’t.
Each & every past life explained something about me in this life. For me, that in itself validates the experience.

And yes you're correct; many have to play the game again & again if they keep avoiding the 'lesson'.

The mother of my son & I had a quite turbulent relationship. A few Spiritualists told us that we had had many past lives together but strangely, not one of the 15 past lives that I've seen was connected to my ex-wife. Sometimes we're just not meant to know.

The books by Michael Newton suggest that you have a group of 'souls' that you hang out with and you all learn roughly at the same rate. It seems many people incarnate with the same 'actors' as last time but playing different roles to achieve different lessons for each one of us.

The life review is a review by yourself and judged by yourself with the help and advice of wiser beings who have done it all before. You decide what you didn't get done or not learned well enough for your spiritual progression and you decide what you want to learn the next time.

There is no external judgement by anyone/anything else it seems. His books are good for me because there are many examples of different people describing the same process which they go through between lives.

Hypnotist/psychic specializing in it. Your subconscious has to agree. If it doesn't the session wont be successful. In that case stop process and don't pay.

I saw two past lives. One was a young olive-skin brunette Spanish woman sitting in hot bright sunlight and wearing a well-made deerskin garment like a dress. It was short-sleeved,above the knee and tied with a braided hemp belt.
Her house was carved from the side of a sandstone cliff or wall and the facade looked like Adobe brick scraped smooth. It had arched windows open to the air. There was sand everywhere. No green.

Interestingly, to me at least, my recent DNA results show I have Iberian genes.

Interesting but McIntosh gives an excellent example (without realising it) why the method must be followed to the letter.

He tells of a session that he cut short because the subject was showing signs of distress. Then he couldn't work out why the subject then experienced flashbacks of that life.
When we 'spirit travel' (for want of a better expression) a part of our essence/consciousness moves to a different place & time. Unless the subject travels back to reconnect with the whole, then that part of the consciousness/essence is trapped in that place.

When I was a member of a Spirit Circle, there were a few people who came to the group for help because they were experiencing flashbacks & nightmares of places that they 'travelled' to using various methods.
Each one had not 'returned' (because they freaked out during the session & ended it while still in the place they travelled to) Even within our group, there were times when a negative entity tried to imprison one of our members.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the experiences, I never once forgot that there were dangers. Dangers that are easily avoided if one follows the method to the letter.

Reading more about it, it seems this is more than just a pop-culture fad for fun. Apparantly there are certified regression therapists programs and as this is a mental health tool is should not be done by ameatuers in the same way you go to someone to read a crystal ball or have your palms read. Reincarnation does not exist of course, it's not real, but it doesn't mean you can still use past life regression to help your current problems by establishing some sort of fictional narrative in your life that makes sense and resolves these issues. Hey if it works...

But there are dangers indeed. From an article linked below:

"Could it be harmful?
Even if it seems to help some patients, it is known to have harmed others.

The recovered memories can be very frightening. They can cause anxiety: one inquirer on the IBRT website was worried that he would become stuck in a memory and turn into a different person. Memories fabricated under hypnosis can seem more real than true memories, and it can be difficult or impossible for patients to accept that they are not true, even when presented with clear evidence that the events could not possibly have occurred. Various other kinds of harm have been documented.

The Israeli Health Ministry told hypnotists to refrain from helping patients explore past lives after receiving complaints from clients who said they had sustained serious emotional damage. One patient reported that he “became emotionally stuck in an experience which made him feel as though he was enclosed in a coffin. He began to gasp for breath. After the session the man suffered repeated panic attacks and respiratory problems, and he was referred for medical and psychiatric care.”

One past life regression therapist, Dr. Rakesh Jain, has reported that “In some subjects, hypnosis and past life regression can result in side effects which can range from mild to severe one and be temporary or durable.” He describes several incidents, including development of new physical symptoms, a patient who attacked the therapist during a session, and a patient who identified past enemies and announced that he would be taking revenge on them in this life. One female patient recalled five past lives as a male and became so afraid that she wouldn’t come out of the trance. He points out that reducing pain through hypnotherapy without identifying the cause of the pain could harm the patient. He cautions that abreactions might harm cardiac patients by causing elevations of heart rate and BP and might cause further tissue damage in patients with wounds or fractures. He cites research that documents 50 complications from hypnosis, including psychotic symptoms, panic attacks, depression with suicidal behavior, symptoms resulting from inadvertent suggestions, symptom substitution, masking physical pathology, etc."

Others have posted how it probably isn't a good idea, and even submitted material to back that up. I'm curious though, what do you hope to gain from having a past life suggested to you?

It's imaginary and IF there is a psychiatrist, psychologist, or any other type of licensed therapist out there doing it, that person is a QUACK.

As for being told by a psychic that you are now married to your son from a "former life", that's just creepy. And I don't mean ghost creepy. I mean creeper creepy.

I think of it more along the lines of the placebo effect where a sugar pill is given for an ailment, unknown to the patient that it is fake, and the patient is relieved of pain.

Of course "reincarnation" does not exist, but that's doesn't matter - it's real to the patient. If the patient thinks it helps and it helps them sort out some mental or emotional problem they have in life to create this fiction, then hey whatever works....

The theory behind the past lives thing is that your people are your people in various ways. You are all acting out what ever issues you have in order to ascend to a higher plane.

Do I believe it? Kinda not. But, I can say at the point I was told this, and told to hold tight, it was a message that rang true and gave me the strength to do exactly what I wanted. Even though pressure was high to not.
