This taken from the MUFON site I searched for the last 30 days in UK. As you can see, there are a number (at least 5 - some others are duplicates) reports of a long line of objects in the sky described on both 24 and 25th May 2019.
examples:

This was a long trail of uncountable dots (lights) approx 100 trailed by 5 dots with larger spacing. Tried taking photo but too distant and dark.
Relatively slow moving at a constant speed. Not a meteor,

4 of us observed a string of about 30 lights move across the sky. Moving from west to east. Steady lights evenly space followed by about 4 lights further apart.
From the description you give - this fits exactly with illumination flares dropped during military training. Dropped by parachute in sequence, they are slow moving and bright.
This also caused the famous Phoenix lights episode about 20 years ago. Was a military base nearby? And by nearby I mean 50 or 60 miles, those things are bright.

Sounds like a great cover up explanation!
After all, whats more exciting in a headline, possible UFOs or flares?
* if there was a 'fleet' of UAPs in the sky, 2 nights in a row...I tend to think something more would have happened
In addition to the previous link to phys.org, I see that MUFON also posted this to explain what was being seen and reported. I only saw that explanation today after posting this thread.

What was this mysterious line of white dots circling the globe? Turns out that Space X had previously launched a Falcon 9 rocket into space with a huge payload. The payload was 60 small “Starlink” satellites, launched from the rocket into low Earth orbit. These satellites are part of a new global Internet system. They were low enough, and bright enough, to be seen when launched into orbit around the Earth in any location in which the skies were clear. As the satellites circled the Earth, they began to spread apart, increasing the distance between each. This is why the initial reports stated 20-60 dots in a white line, and the later reports spotted but a few dots.
