This is an odd one because they disappeared from their airbnb rental home without taking phones and wallets. What could have happened? Normally, people left outside for 8 days would show signs of distress. They went for a walk, then dont know what happened, which is strange for BOTH of them to not know what happened. The Search & Rescue volunteers did not find them for 8 days yet they were found only 1/2 mile from their rental home.

A couple missing for over a week in Northern California were found alive on Saturday morning by rescuers who had given up hope of finding them alive.
...
The couple, from Palo Alto, was last seen Valentine's Day, at their Airbnb rented cottage near Inverness, a town at the foot of the bay. The couple never checked out the next day as planned and failed to show up for an appointment on Feb. 16, which sheriff's officials said was highly out of character for them.

When housekeepers went to the cottage to clean up, they found the couple's phones and wallets in addition to their vehicle parked outside the rental home.

[They] left for a hike on Valentine's, got lost at dark, and don't know what happened," Schneider told reporters on Saturday.
The couple, who were unprepared for a long hike, were wearing lightweight clothing and had no food as night temperatures fell into the 30s

They're city slickers.
That's all that needs to be said.
Fortunately they were very lucky and were found.

Nah. They just figured they'd go for a quick walk not ever thinking they'd get lost.

They keep calling it a ditch. It was more like a small ravine with a huge overgrowth of stuff with jaggers in it. She apparently went over the edge and he went after her to get her out and then they couldn’t get out probably because she might’ve had some wounds from landing in the jaggers and he tried to protect her and he got all jaggered up.

And also apparently it wasn’t the normal passage for people to walk so they never looked there. None of this is really unexplained or a mystery. As to why they didn’t take their phones with them?

A lot of older people don’t think carrying phones are a necessity. So they don’t. They were just going for a walk.

Video of rescue. Via helicopter, so, obviously not a ditch.

Other reports say the two were a herbalist and survivalist, and they survived by drinking from puddles and eating vegetation in the ravine, but were severely hypothermic. "Ditch" is massively misleading. No huge mystery here, just people using poor judgement on a hike.

Whats so unexplained or paranormal about this? Its simple, they got lost, drank from a mud puddle, ate leaves and survived.
