You know how those crazy artists can be. Bad trip, man.

BTW- speaking of Vatican art-- the reason it took Michelangelo so long to paint the Sistine Chapel ceiling was because it was a Paint by Numbers kit, and all the numbers were in Roman Numerals. That led to a lot of confusion, frustration and delays.

And its well known, that many of those 'sea monsters' on old maps, were actually to pinpoint areas that were rough to sail thru, or there was some other danger, (Pirates, rocks, shallow sections, even sand bars)

Those are pigs, not dogmen. The represent human greed and how it devours everything.

Look like dog heads to me, and notice, they are all 'eating or biting' the heads of the 'saints' (those with the defined halo).

Does anyone know the actual name of the painting or the artist?

The greed of man is so great that even God, and the saints, is being eaten (consumed) by greed. There are many references to greed as being a pig, or hog. An example - Eat like a hog.

But it doesn't matter, all you see is dogmen, just like Versy sees Bigfoot, and wont accept any other explanation other than something being a Dogman.

I thought saints were above that kind of human emotion of greed.

...and the thing that looks like a snake with a swans head and wings? What is that?

Googled the image. Look at this page about 1/4 of the way down:

Gog and Magog - Wikipedia

Devil, Gog and Magog attack the Holy City. (from a 17th century Russian manuscript)

Even saints can be "consumed" if they are forgotten about. Same basic concept as hunters hunting animals into extinction. Eventually, those animals will be forgotten and wont exist in the memory of man.

They're representations of cynocephalii. From the 15th century Passion of St Christopher:

Quote:
There was a persecution of Christians in time of the emperor Decius, and the holy man Christopher was taken and tortured like the others. Christopher was exceedingly wise, and had observed that the Lord assisted those of the heathen who believed just as much as he assisted Christians. Now this Christopher was one of the Dogheads[cynocephalii], a race that had the heads of dogs and ate human flesh.
