What do you think it will take to prove it other than a dead body?

IDK about that...how would that work anyway?...

Some guy shoots and kills one while out hunting...he brings it home and wants to prove to the world that Bigfoot does exist, how does he go about that?

Ultimately, he would have to turn the body over to 'officials/authorities' for examination and verification that is an actual bigfoot, (this is where it has the potential to go 'missing')

If he's already killed it, it may not, as a species, exist anymore.

We do not know what they saw or if they saw anything. There is no evidence.

They are a proud people with traditions and ways passed down by word of mouth over many generations. Maybe just one elder started a story? Maybe one was hallucinating at the time? We have no idea because none of it was recorded in real time. They did the best they could do with what they had and passed down these stories from one generation to another. But we have no idea how much these stories changed since there are no survivors from the time when they started.

If you like fiction you go to the library. Of course fiction could be based on a real event. But we need evidence to prove that something really happened. As much as many of us respect Native American myths and legends, it is a long way to prove that reality.

Just that it was bi-pedal, and covered in hair.

Native Americans were very in touch with nature, the land, animals, plants, etc. They had a deep connection to it, that we probably could not even understand, I believe what they say about Sasquatch, not everything can be verified in the manner you want it to be.

In case you didnt know, it was the Native Americans who came up with the name 'Sasquatch'...(take a guess what it means!)

Since the article you started off your thread on Native American sightings described them as normal height, does that mean that all of the other BF reports are wrong? Keep in mind that Native Americans are 'very in touch with nature' and thus know the truth!

I respect their stories and customs, but they are only stories without the evidence.

Lots of bars have an annual "Bigfoot Hunt" as a promotion to bring in money in my state too.
They aren't looking to kill one, but to find one, you have to hunt for it.

As noted, this bill doesn't authorize killing one, just trapping it. With all the Bigfoot hunters already out there, both cryptozoologists and amateur, why not have a means for the state to make a few bucks off it?
Besides, he tourists would definitely get a kick out of getting an official "license" from the state, suitable for framing of course.

I actually think it's a good thing. Aside from the tounge in cheek humor, it also protects the creatures as there would be laws on the books about legally taking one, so someone that shot one could be held legally liable for poaching.

I've never seen one myself, but there was one time after 2 weeks in hunting camp where I did encounter a large, hairy, foul smelling, angry creature with red eyes that screamed loudly in the night, but it turned out to be my hunting partner when he stepped on a pinecone with a bare foot in a trip to the outhouse in the dark.

There are different varieties of Sasquatch, some are on the smaller side.

If you'll take time to read the proposed bill, you'll see that no firearms are allowed. Weapons are restricted to "slingshots only."
