Ordinary planes, long exposure time, and a slightly shaky hand. Planes tend to have green, red, and white flashing lights.


A picture taken in darker conditions needs a longer exposure time. Longer exposure times can cause lights to 'streak' in the captured image. A shaky hand can cause the light 'streaks' to resemble a 'pattern' that doesn't actually exist.
