Iron County Register (Iron County, Mo) Nov. 4, 1880 Pg1

Lemuel McGee, on his way to work in Vicksburg, said to his companions; " I'm dry, and ain't got a cent, but I'm going to have some whiskey if I have to die for it."
He led them into Samuel Hawthorne's saloon, where they had the drinks, and McGee announced that he couldn't pay.
Then he did " die for it." Hawthorne killed him at once with a pistol.

Contractor A.C. Schaffer, who is in charge of the construction work on the new road between Versailles and Camp Salem, while superintending some of the grading work near his camp last Saturday, was stung on the second finger of his right hand by a large spider.
Nothing was thought of the sting at first, but the finger soon began swelling and it has been necessary for Mr. Schaffer to secure the services of a physician to prevent serious results.

A suspended city has been discovered off Glacier Bay, Alaska, by a party of excursionists. This curious phenomenon is seen regularly after full moon in June, and at no other time.
It is said to be a beautiful mirage of some unknown city suspended directly over the bay.
A photographer has taken pictures of it four times, but no one has been able to identify one of the ghostly buildings outlined.

BLIND HORSE CAUSES INJURY

Miss Thressa Rudolph, 419 West Broadway avenue, sustained slight bruises of the jaw when she fell from a buggy at Ninth street and Broadway at 10 o'clock this morning.
Miss Rudolph's horse is blind and ran into the curb.
The buggy tipped slightly and she was thrown out. She was taken to the Parker Memorial Hospital.
