DID NOT LIKE WIFE'S TEETH

William Spear, a laborer living at No. 3015 Division street, was arrested last night by Special Officers Burke and McGrath of the Fourth District on a charge of wife beating.
Spears came home last night about 10 o'clock intoxicated.
He remarked to his wife that the new false teeth he bought her two weeks ago improved her appearance too much, and forthwith proceeded to break several of them, at the same time giving her a black eye and a contused face. She was taken to City Hospital, but later sent home.

BOY'S RACE IS A PUZZLE

Paris.--- A young vagabond, recently arrived from some mysterious place in America, is giving the police magistrates great trouble on account of the fact that they cannot understand a word of his speech nor he of theirs.
The boy is about 18. He has drawn crude pictures to indicate that he was brought by his mother first to Boston and then across the ocean, and then deserted by his mother on reaching Paris.
Through continued repetition of certain words the magistrates think the boy wishes to say he belongs to the "Agrache" race, but no Parisian interpreters have yet been able to discover to what family his language belongs.
French savants begin to believe he comes from some Polynesian island and has drifted across America and on to Paris.
The police are looking for his mother, meantime, the boy is receiving elementary French lessons.

At the picnic our preacher said something and I began laughing, he patted me on the head and said I was a bright little boy because he thought I was laughing at a joke he thought he made.
I wasn't, it was because there was a spider and two ants inside the piece of apple pie he was eating.
