FAITH HEALER ARRESTED

New York, May, 8--- President Michael C. murphy, of the board of health, ordered the arrest today of Mrs. Maria Miller, a faith cure healer, who is accused of being responsible for the critical condition in which Lizzie Kranx, a 12-year-old child, now is, as a result of gangrene in the foot.

The child was first attended by a physician, who said the affected member would have to be amputated. The parents refused to consent to this, and called in Mrs. Miller, who, it is alleged, said she could cure the child by laying on of hands.
The patient grew rapidly worse under this treatment and a physician was again called in. He ordered the child to a hospital, where the left leg was amputated, but the case had gone too far, and it is feared death will ensue.

SOLD HIS WIFE FOR $10

Bartered Her Away To A St. Louis Man Whom She Loved Better Than Her Husband.

St. Louis, Dec. 6--- "For consideration of $10, paid by Jeff Parks, motorman, 910 North Eighteenth street, to be used in filing a suit to divorce myself and wife, I have waived all claim to my wife, Mrs. Della F. Clayton, to the said Jeff Parks."

Thus George M. Clayton, a farmer, living at North Alton, formerly surrendered all claims to his wife, who, he charges, thrice eloped with Parks, once from Los Angeles, again from Colorado Springs, and a third time from North Alton.

Clayton called on his wife and Parks yesterday morning and threatened to prosecute them if Mrs. Clayton did not return to him, but the woman informed Clayton that no amount of prosecution could make her leave Parks. Then Clayton said he would give up and made the above proposition.
