I was driving to work at 6:30 am a couple of weeks ago. There were very few cars on the parkway I was on and none near me. Suddenly. I heard seven loud knocks on my back seat window, all syncopated to equal lengths of time. It was startling. I thought there was a deer or raccoon on my car. But I was going 65 mph on a parkway for 20 minutes and that was impossible. I took out my phone to leave a voice memo. As I spoke into the phone, I knocked on my drivers side window (which sounded exactly like what I heard) and was saying the time and date. I’d dint know. The date so I looked at the phone and it was Nov 17. I suddenly realized that that is my mothers birthday. This was such a weird event. Nothing else happened but I will never forget it.

I think sometimes they want to be acknowledged. Sometimes I also get "messages". A month ago I was going about my day doing this and that, and it came to my attention that a name kept being repeated by the people surrounding me and on the tv, the news, online, strangers on the street. Well, not excessively, but enough for me to notice. So I look at the calendar and it's one of my old friend's birthday that passed away years ago. His name was the one they kept repeating.
I said "Hello, (insert his name). " That's all they really want.
This just jogged a memory. Months back, something similar happened to me and the person I was with. We were driving down a stretch of road with no other cars around, when suddenly we heard a loud sound coming from the back part of the car -- and oddly I can't recall exactly *what* the sound was, but I believe it sounded like banging on the roof.
We both looked at each other like, "What the heck was that?!"
We thought it might have come from a construction site, but there was no construction around. Whatever the sound was, it was *loud.*
No other cars around. No buildings near the road, only grass and trees.
We hadn't run over anything. No objects had hit or fallen onto the car.
I think it was a series of bangs around 6-10 in total. Gave the impression of something banging on the roof.
No explanation for what had caused it.
It was WEIRD.
The other weird thing is, I had totally forgotten about this until I saw this thread. It happened during a period of my life where everything was in upheaval, so that memory had gotten swept under the rug. There very well could be a rational explanation for what caused the sound, but at the time neither of us could figure out what that could be.
Additional twist: soon thereafter (a few weeks or so), while we were hanging out, his car was broken into and my belongings were stolen out of it.
I don't think so. I know what i heard. When I knocked on my own window moments later, it was the exact same sound.
In that link, I provided they also stated that there were 9 sonic booms. You said seven, which makes those booms a good candidate for your mysterious bangs. I guess the proper way to dismiss my speculation is to track down exactly when you heard the bangs and exactly when the military did the testing.

I thought you were going to say something like, "soon thereafter, I found out my [close relative] had died a few hours before we were on the road that day". Think back; can you think of anyone close to you who had passed away at some point within a few weeks before that day?
