Blair wanted entrance into the exclusive club of hyper wealth and power occupied by the rightwing extremists in the U.S. and Bush allowed him in if he sold his soul and sent his soldiers into Iraq.
England, itself being the chief proponent of Western imperialism in the Middle East for the past century, joined forces with the United States and invaded an innocent nation for its resources. This time it was an American run operation and the Brits were allowed the safer zones of occupation while the Americans were blown up in Anbar. The occupation continues 6 years later, largely unchanged, with the exception of most combatants have been bought off with both roles in government, guns, and cash.
No matter what Blair accomplished, or even might have of accomplished were he not hounded with questions on why he sent British troops to occupy Iraq, are forever washed away, and he will only be remembered as a U.S. foreign policy poodle.
