So I'm a Finnish guy and been living in Michigan, US for less than a year now and want out. Just cannot stand it anymore in here, hating the place more and more each day. Missing the European way of life, cities, sidewalks, people and culture. Not to mention home and friends etc.
Anyway I have an opportunity to go to UK to work for an engineering company somewhere in between London, Coventry and Birmingham, probably close to Birmingham. Other option would be Germany in Baden-Wurttemberg, close to Stuttgart.
My question is which place would be closer to Scandinavian culture and way of life? I know I don't like England as a country as much as I like Germany but is that too big of a problem, I don't know. Language barrier in Germany is big but probably for not too long. Job wise both options are good.
Germany is the more Scandinavian of the two. In fact a lot of trouble could have been avoided last century if Germany hadn't wanted to be Scandinavia so badly.
The problem is you're in Michigan which is a state in steady decline for the last 50 years. Try coastal California, NYC, Chicago, or even Seattle as I think you'll like them better then Michigan.
