I lived for a year in St. Austell, Cornwall from 1973-1974 . It was a good experience overall. Some of the best beaches , scenery, cliffs in the world. Just wondering how its changed since 1973 (???) . Particularly St. Austell and Mevagissey . Was thinking of another trip there for a few weeks.

St Austell hasn't totally changed but I think you might die of shock if you went to the Eden Project, it is like something beautiful landed from outer space.

Most of the town looks fairly normal still, in fact has probably really modernised and improved dramatically, and has lots more lively shopping areas, chain stores as well as independents. Much of the change is for the good - more tourism means more money - but house prices have rocketed and pushed out the locals.

Still the best beaches and coastal scenery in the world. Definitely.
