For some reason, he didn't catch on in the U.S. as did his mate "Dud".

'Bedazzled' was brilliant.

I wonder if he would have been fondly remembered if he had lived to an old age.

They were another era of comedy, the best. My interest in British comedy waned after Billy Connolly and I don't get what's on offer these days.

If you weren't in London between 1988 and 1992, you wouldn't have heard Peter Cook anywhere else in the country on LBC radio. I wasn't, but became aware of digitized collection of those late night calls he made to Clive Bull, as Sven the Norwegian Fisherman. Pure genius! The Establishment - The Sven Files

Spike was king. I occasionally chat with his lovely daughter on Twitter.

Another letter of note: Spike Milligan and the case of difficult dressing gowns | Duchess of Hackney

Oh and I met Dudley Moore in Santa Monica in the early 1990's at a friends neighbours home. Nice fella.

Sadly, I think Dudley spent more years in the States suffering from that neurodegenerative disease than he did enjoying a successful career.

Cook actually starred in a poorly-received American TV comedy in the early 1980s. Based on what I've read about him, it was a waste of talent.

The original "Bedazzled" was a funny movie and Peter Cook was great in that role!
