Tony Blair knew that which is why he won three general elections.
You're confusing Labour members with Labour voters who, by and large, are aspirational, patriotic and conservative with a small c.
Boris won London twice for the same reasons he won an 80-seat majority in December.
And I really don't need to disparage the left-wing when they do such a good job of it themselves . This week they're tearing themselves apart in public over internal Labour politics when hundreds of people are dying ever day from C-19.

But Labour and the left-wing have been part of the discussions in this thread and my point remains the same.

He's everything they hate - Eton,Oxbridge,privileged.
And it's not that the left in Britain these days are poor,downtrodden working class.They're mostly children of the middle class not clever enough to get into a good university.
Hence their hatred of Boris for making it look easy.
Boris has his faults and that, to a large degree, accounts for his popularity.
He's also likeable,self-deprecating and good fun.
But he's also extremely ambitious and that's the greatest sin of all amongst the bitter and self-loathing left wing.

Now hes making a big stand again and wish he d disappear the warmonger.
He was full of guff and did little on basic things like tax, pensions,m etc. They only started coming about along with increased empoyment in 2010 with the shared government and became regular.
