I think I've seen every 'best' series so now have started watching what I consider second tier -- not the best written but have familiar actors or characters who make watching tolerable. Lots of these are on youtube for free.
Example: My Husband and I starring Mollie Sugden. Never heard of it and it could have been so much better but found it 'comforting' to see her and other familiar British character actors.

The best ever coming out of the UK was "Father Ted" followed by "Mr. Bean" and Blackadder". We also liked "Are you being served", "Only Fools and Horses", "Vicar of Dibley", "The IT Crowd", "Gavin and Stacey", and "Keeping up Appearances".
In the early 80s, we did a family vacation to Florida and stayed with old friends. My buddy and I would watch Doctors' Hospital every afternoon. Later I learned the true name is Doctor in the House or some such.
I thought it very, very funny. I was 15 at the time and have not seen it since. I wonder if I would still like it.

I watched Doctor in the House on regular commercial TV in the Philadelphia market in the early 70s.
