There are disputes even in relation to British items such as the Lindisfarne Gospels and
St Cuthbert Gospel
, which are housed in the British Library in London but have strong links to the North East of England, Durham Cathedral and Lindisfarne (Holy Island) itself, as well as to local, Saint Cuthbert, who was one of many Saints from that part of England, including the likes of St Aidan, St Hilda, St Wilfrid, St Oswald and The Venerable Bede.

A number of people believe that the right place for the Gospels should be Durham Cathedral which is the burial place of Saint Cuthbert or indeed Holy Island (Lindisfarne) itself.

As for the British Museum, it needs to move forward with plans to restore and reopen it's beautiful and historic Reading Room, as part of it's planned £1 billion revamp.

The Kings father the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as for the Marbles, the British Museum have already made their position clear, and they have issued a statement in the link below in this respect.
