From: Schoolboys punished with detention for refusing to kneel down and pray to Allah | Mail Online

Quote:
Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah' during a religious education lesson.
Parents were outraged that the two boys from year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.

I'm sure this will be taken up by the "Britain's gone PC-mad!" brigade as another whinging point in their arsenal but the fact is that religious nonsense interferes with schooling the world over. This sounds like an isolated instance - don't get me started though on the wholesale teaching of creationism-as-fact across great swathes of the American south...

Ha this is crazy, I can remember I was up in arms about studying religious education as a school student because I didnt care for religion but this is just extreme If I was a student at that school I would have told them where to stick it.

When any religion is taught as fact it is not education, and school children should not have to put up with being taught 6 day creationism or anything thereof. But, I do think that it is important that schools educate children on the many different religions, their origins, and the effect that has on social policy, and politics.

I agree. It sounds like the incident in the article could possibly have simply been a "bad behaviour" issue on the part of the children. Unfortunately there are many little tearaways who make poor teachers' lives hell, and who's to say that this (unfortunately chosen) episode wasn't the last straw for this particular teacher? Pure and unadulterated speculation on my part, I grant you - but many a British news story has been printed based on much less.

This would be Huge news if it happened over here in the United states. It would make national front page in the papers, get TV coverage on the 6:00 news, The teacher would be fired, the school would be sued and thats only if it wasn't blown out of perportion.

Everytime this happens the liberals say its an isolated case and the pro muslim politically correct BBC ignore it. If any Americans doubt that the UK is cowtowing to the Muslims and other minorites then they should come over her and stay in London or many other cities for a few weeks.

The news section of the BBC website seems to carry these stories though. And are you calling the Daily Mail impartial?

I would say the daily mail leans right and the BBC left. Difference is the BBC are state funded and are controlled by Labour and their supporters. You can choose to not buy the Mail but if you have TV you are forced to pay the BBC.

BTW BBC American is a different animal to BBC UK. Much more impartial.

If it wasn`t for the BBC we wouldn`t have got this...If, like you suggest the BBC is at the beck n` call of the State, how would such reporting be possible.?.. I saw the full report last night..Astounding..

BBC NEWS | UK | Migrant criminal network exposed

We were told the Home Office was "Unfit for Purpose". By the look of this the last one left the office and turned out the light years ago..
