A UK government Web site says the nation's officials plan to equip front-line officers with the Scottsdale-based company's devices.

Why are they a problem though?

It's not exactly like anyone can be killed or seriously injured by them.

Actually there have been a few instances where people have died from heart attacks, shock etc. Because of the voltage.

But i'd rather our police were armed anyway, its about time too.

I withdraw my statement.

And I agree that it is about time that we stepped up our police control.

Tasers in the hands of well-trained officers is the way forwards!

In the United States, many have chosen to carry tasers as a method of personal protection.

Is it permissible in the UK for a private person carry a taser?

I would also prefer to see the Police armed but apparently a majority on the force are actually opposed to carrying guns. And I supposed they should have a say in the decision.

Tasers are also not popular with the Force and the Met is proposing to reject plans by the Home secretary to make widely available to officers.
