The Brits and their bad teeth have been the butt of many an American joke.
recent online survey conducted in the U.K. may help to explain the cause of the national stereotype: Some are practicing dentistry on themselves at home. No surgery, no sanitation, no equipment and a lot of pain.

We're not all lunatics or slackers when it comes to dental care. Believe it or not, a few of us Brits actually have rather fetching smiles if I may say so myself.

The British having bad teeth is nothing more than a redundant, outdated stereotype which is now only perpetuated by clueless ignoramuses who use that non-fact to argue against socialized medicine (even though most dentists in the UK are private, yet are still cheaper than their US counterparts).

Joking aside, I never had my first filling, (or cavity to the USA posters), until I was 14. I will admit it had been downhill since then and I have had many fillings since, but folks in Scotland always compliment me on my nice teeth.
Having seen some USA dentistry, it looks ultra-white and too false. Maybe it matches the plastic surgery. And no, I haven't had that either. You would know this if you seen my uncorrected nose....
