I had to log back on to post this. Dang it wasn't that long ago she revealed her cancer had returned, just last summer if I remember, bcause I remember her calling into a radio show while I was driving, to talk about some race row thingy after she said something about Asians (as in Chinese).
You yanks might remember her "From Are You Being Served". I remember her from "Please Sir" and "On the Buses".
This is really sad....I used to love watching Eastenders when I lived in the UK...Pauline Fowler was the ultimate mother figure of the show. Great actress....will be missed, but I'm sure she's in heaven now, proud of what she achieved on this earth.
Yes, as an American (Georgia native, can't get used to being called a Yank), I know her from "Are You Being Served," we still get it on our public stations on the weekends. Even though I was in the UK from 87-89 and knew Eastenders was popular, I never got into it.
What has become of the other cast members of "Are You Being Served?" As Wendy was one of the younger cast members, I would imagine many of the others are no longer with us.
I did see a reunion version of the show set in a B&B or farm or something with several of the original cast all looking a good bit older than they did in the original show. What time frame was this version made? I didn't care for it as much, a little too cheesy.
My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, she will be missed.

Yes unfortunately most of the original cast are no longer with us although Mollie Sugden is alive but hasn't appeared on tv for many years as she's 86 now. John Thorton has been in the long running show 'last of the summer wine' recently. He was interviewed the other day at Wendy's funeral.
