I thought Cleveland looked underwhelming, until I realized that the redline is heavy rail, and isn't included in the graphic.

Here's rapid transit systems to scale.

Subway systems at the same scale / Fake is the new real

One interesting difference is that some networks of similar to route length extend further out but have a lower track density [Chicago] while others are compact and dense [Paris]

It is a pretty old streetcar system, though I have ridden it once and it is one of the scariest rides that I have been on. It is like a little bus on tracks that is flying down these tunnels that kind of go up and down with curves and such. It was such a weird experience overall. Nothing like today's streetcar systems and trains.

Two really cool images, talk about a great find. Out of both images, the one that surprised me the most is Dallas's light rail, I didn't realize they had that many lines and that extensive of a system already. And here I thought Austin was the liberal city of Texas, it seems like Dallas is ahead of the game in Texas.
