It was fun walking it, I had no clue about it until I got there and stayed in a nice hotel on it for my wife's work meetings. I didn't go out to any of the bars like I usually would, but I'm guessing bar patrons often fall into the water via not many railings on it. Great part is you can't see it at all from the street level, and Alamo is right next to it.

Richmond Canal Walk. Pretty small compared to SA’s but it’s decent enough.

It' 15 miles long now. I't start four miles north of downtown (Museum Reach) and continues on the southside (Mission Reach).

You can probably do a nice study of one way streets vs two way streets looking at race and income data that will yield results that show poorer and darker urban areas have more fast one way streets than white and wealthy urban areas

You may have posted in the wrong thread.

I like that you can walk along the canals in Venice CA but then again they don't have commercial development.

Great thread, BTW. I am looking forward to visiting Providence this summer. Spokane has been on my bucket list but I may not ever visit. Hopefully I'll get to Richmond.

There are walks along the river in Knoxville, Chattanooga and numerous river cities but it doesn't seem the same as the San Antonio Riverwalk or something like a canal where you can see the other side and walk across in a matter of a few steps.

It works well enough.

That looks fantastic. I would love to spend a day walking that. Is it all connected for the walker (maybe you have to go out on surface streets here and there; but can you more or less walk from one end to the other, given a sturdy pair of shoes and enough time?

Closer to home, both Ft. Worth and Austin have "sort of riverwalks" but much more focused on nature and less on commercial activity right at water's edge.

Creeksitter, if you come to Providence this summer be sure to time it to a Waterfire event. That way, you'll get the full impact of the music, performances, and food along the river walk.

I agree, one of the best riverwalks in the country. The waterfire event is phenomenal.
