^ Yes. Less refined, more industrialized preWW2 towns that were self sufficient on themselves. Relied on trips to the bigger cities nearby for extended services. THeres a ratio between PA/NJ towns like every 10 miles theres a town center, so radially noone is a 5 mile walk to a town center.. sicne most of the towns were developed before the advent of the car. They serve pretty much a 5-mile radius.

Very impressive and a great theory to study.

Here's a map of Allegheny County's (greater Pittsburgh) whopping 129 (or more) separate municipalities.

Notice how incredibly tiny many of them are, especially along the 3 rivers.
