Among its other quirks, California boasts a super colony of Argentine ants. We get ants so bad certain times of year that I think we live right on top of the super colony. Kitchen tidy and clean? They'll go looking in our bathroom sinks. Scouts even get in our bed looking around for food. And if I have forgotten a piece of candy in my purse, they'll find it and tell all their friends.

Does Utah have these little buggers, too? Could be a deal breaker...

I'm kidding. Sort of.

I don't miss those ants, they are everywhere in CA. I have only been here since September 1st but I didn't see any of those ants. The only ants I have seen are larger ants and they have only been while on walks etc.

I am sure we get ants but I can't believe they are as bad as CA.

I hear ya, those guys were amazing, they would be everywhere. We had an orange tree in the yard so they were out by the millions.

One bait worked in my area for two years, then it didn't. I think they would freeze here.

We have very few insects overall b/c of the winter freezes. Not many can live for over a week w/temps below 32 degrees. While we have mosquitoes, they aren't the problem here that they are elsewhere. We have flies, but again, at least in my area, not a problem. Bees and wasps, yes, but I like to see bees. They are dying out in so many places. Ants, well I have never seen one inside but I do have some small ones outside in the summer.

About the only thing that drives me nuts in the good weather is the plethora of yellow jackets and paper wasps. They are very aggressive and mean, not to mention they scare the bajebbers out of me. Otherwise I have no issues with the creatures around here
