I need help! We've just put in an offer on a cute house in Tooele. I love the house and the fact that it's walking distance to the elementary school, but I'm not wild about the location... I've talked to a couple of people that live in Tooele, and they say they loveliving there and would never leave, but they live on the northern end of town. Definitely not as far out as this. We don't know anyone in this area and we have never lived anywhere rural in our lives!

I can't find a lot of information about the area or the school online, other than google mapping how far we are from things. We went out to the neighborhood and checked out the school, Settlement Canyon Elementary, which did not help much with my anxiety, to be honest...we were told that there are no field trips or extra-curricular activities at all. The neighborhood seemed nice enough, although we didn't really find anyone to talk to. Right now i'd say my comfort level with living there for the forseeable future is about 50/50. I'm very much on the fence.

I worry that my kids won't be accepted because we're not practicing Mormons. Or that their education will be taking a massive step backwards from where they are now. Or that the neighborhood won't be safe. I kind of wish the neighborhood was a little more established. But maybe it's just me being scared? I think it might be nice to live somewhere quiet and peaceful if we can be part of a community that will let us in just because we're good people. I absolutely adore the Stansbury Park area, but the houses we've seen there have been too small, just out of our price range, or short sales that are taking forever to sell.

It's a couple of weeks out before anything is set in stone...any information out there about this area or Settlement Canyon Elementary would be a huge help!

I don't know much about Tooele but that is pretty far out there. If you are okay being away from downtown SLC then I don't know if thats a problem. I don't think I would like it but I work downtown. I know Tooele County has made huge strides in education (in fact they raised school taxes by 9% just last week). As for the ever-boring problem of LDS/Mormons vs. everyone, I wouldn't see it. I think #1 group in Utah are non-practicing mormons, with all other groups 2nd. You'll be fine with that.

I know a neighbor/friend of mine is selling her house here in Stansbury. I am not sure what your price range is, but her house has 6 bedrooms and is GORGEOUS! I PM'd you, but message me with some specific questions. I messaged you BEFORE I saw this post!
