We live in Cottonwood Heights and even have a backyard fishpond, which would be sure to attract mosquitos. We see perhaps a half dozen total throughout the summer.

I've had this place for about 8 years and never had any problems with Mosquitos. In the summer time the grand kids sleep out on the deck all the time and never get bit.

Go a few miles away down in the river bottom and you can get bit some.

Southern Utah.

I know they are thick at the airport after dark. Horribly so. But there are large wetland areas just to the north. They do abatement on them but they can still be thick after sunset. Also the high uintas are notorious among the backpacking community for the clouds of mosquitos in parts of summer. Since you like to hike it's something to be aware of. Other than that I haven't had an issue in Utah.
