Due to my 'job' I've had to move a lot over the years across the country, to various cities. And I've been miserable since leaving SLC. To be clear, I'm very much an outdoor enthusiast, and make no mistake SLC is a mecca for my type. I live in Houston currently, and I'm on the verge of depression and withdrawal due to the lack of what SLC has in spades - world class scenery and outdoor activities within a short distance of home. The wife and I are coming back this year, if all goes according to plan, quite possibly at the peril of risking my career. But I miss it and realize the mountains are where my soul is happy. It's where I feel at peace. I miss spending my days off in locations like this:

I took every one of those photos within a 2 hour drive of SLC, most within a half hour drive. If you are contemplating moving to Utah, rest assured you have a paradise waiting to be discovered at your back door. Get adventurous, go for a drive and see what you uncover. Get a daypack and a trail guide, and find out what lies within plain sight of the city. SLC may not have the best bar or nightclub scene, but what it does offer in what you see above far outweighs that. Go for a hike, get off the beaten path, away from the 'resorts'. See the protected wilderness areas with your own eyes. Discovery Channel HD has nothing on what sits within sight of your house. I'm coming home baby, and I cannot wait!!!

Thank you. There should be 10 or so pictures showing up in that post, but for some reason I'm only seeing 3. Are you all able to see more than 3 or 4? I might have to rehost them.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Yeah - I went for a walk here in Houston today. Let me tell ya, the endless concrete and asphalt jungle is so nice! /sarcasm. Those mountains back home are calling to me.

Hang in there, you'll be out of Houston oneday.!
I've lived in N TX for almost 10 years and hated every moment and the food..Boring, flat, hot, concrete and nothing to do except the malls..
I too am thinking hard on moving to SLC this Spring.! HAve been there a few times for Fishing, Golf, ski vacations and fell in love with the entire area including Moab and Flaming Gorge.!

My job now allows me to live anywhere and I am seriously thinking of SLC.!
Like Heber, Orem area. Can you reccomend an area ( Apartment).

I can not agree more. Days off 10k feet up with a backpack on, can not be beat. I'm back in Tampa now, but as soon as I am able, I will settle back down in Utah for good.

I am so bored down here, lol.

SLCPUNK: What type of job do you have?
I currently live in Riverview, FL and work in Tampa as a Technical Consultant (PC/Network Tech). Are these jobs available in SLC?

i used to live in jacksonville, and my wife is from the hollywood and debary areas.

there are tons of technical jobs in utah right now, though i don't know anything about your specific field. i am also not really sure about job openings, specifically. but there is definitely a market for it here.
