We may be making a possible move to Utah County for my job at UVU. We are a non LDS family (South Asian -Indian) with two kids, one will be in fist grade and second in 3 years - PreK. I don't want to spend time in commute and would like to rent somewhere within 15 minute drive to UVU. My son goes to a charter school and is good with maths so we would like him to attend a comparable school in Utah. What area should I consider when looking for a rental property? We plan to rent for 6 months or a year while we look for a house.

I was checking schools online and looks like there are very few to no rentals available in my preferred school districts (Foothill, Highland, Shelley elementary)

Is it feasible to live in Draper and drive to UVU? How bad does it get in winter?

I would say avoid Utah County to live, Draper only 25 minutes and an easy commute. even in bad weather they are very on the ball ploughing the roads. Depending on where in Draper is an easy drop onto I15

School in Draper pretty good and also if kids test for SALTA can get into Sunrise Elementary in Sandy which ist too far at all to drive. The Middle school there very good too. Also lots of charter schools round that way

I second the suggestion to move to Salt Lake County as opposed to Utah County. Draper would be a good choice, as would South Jordan.

Thank you Montygirl and Katzpur!

I am visiting campus next week so I may drive around the area to get better. I have been commuting for more than 2 years now and I don't want to commute anymore but I am open to all the options.

How is Lehi or Pleasant grove ?

Lehi is not too bad, don't know much about pleasent grove but tbh Draper or South Jordan (Riverton near where I lived) not much longer commute and a bit more mixed as is Sandy on the east side
