Hi all,

I am planning a short trip to Utah mid October to escape Las Vegas for a few days and enjoy the Fall foliage of the area (Oct 12th-16th). I will drive from Las Vegas up to Salt Lake City, and I would like to know of any good chair lifts that are open where I can appreciate the Fall foliage from above. Unfortunately, many lifts are closed by Oct 6th for what I have been researching (why is that?). I will continue to research online but I thought about asking some locals.

Best,

J.

Have you checked out Snowbird? I believe their aerial tram is running. Their number is (801) 933-2222.

I don;t know if this has any interest for you, but Powder Mountain (an hour's drive from Salt Lake) is unique in that you drive to the top of the mountain to park/access parking lots etc. I doubt that the lodges will be open, but you can drive up there to get panoramic views.

Thanks, it looks like it may already be snowed there, and no chair lift

How pretty, I'll add it to the bucket list, even if for a scenic drive! Thanks

Maybe consider southern Utah. Highway 14 out of Cedar City usually has good fall colors and a number of viewpoints where you can stop and look down on Zion National Park, etc. from above. Cedar Breaks and then a trip to Brian Head Peak could probably give you the sorts of sweeping views you are looking for. There are a number of highways and byways in southern Utah with really good views and fall color.
