Interesting piece titled:

Why Utah Has Become America’s Economic Star: From taxes to education to the business climate, the Beehive State has its house in order.

Sorry in advance; the above is behind a paywall. It is based on the freely available https://www.alec.org/publication/ric...-12th-edition/ which ranks states based upon their economic competitiveness.

Some of the key takeaways from the article:

Utah has been #1 for 12 years running.
  • Utah has a low, flat-rate income and corporate tax of below 5%.
  • There’s no death tax, so wealthy people don’t have to flee to Florida after they retire.
  • It’s is a right-to-work state, meaning workers can’t be compelled to join unions.
  • Utah has some of the best health outcomes in the nation.
  • Job growth has ranked second in the nation for the past decade.
  • Wages are rising briskly.
  • Fourth-graders in the Utah ranked in the top 10 in both math and reading on the 2019 National Assessment of Educational Progress.

“We are unapologetically pro-business and pro-jobs in Utah,” said Gov. Gary Herbert, “And we have a long tradition of being frugal on how we spend tax dollars.” Utah spends a third less per capita on state and local government services like housing and education than do New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island. But while their elected representatives are frugal, Utah residents don’t feel deprived. According to WalletHub.com Utah is the second-happiest state in the country. Only Hawaiians are happier.

Utah has the least income inequality in the nation, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

First of all, Utah has no ghettos, unlike almost every US state other than Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Dakotas.

Ghettos and left wing/socialist lunatics are a cancer for a city and a society.

Secondly, Utah is very Conservative, and Conservative values promote low taxes, free business and great corporate ethics.

Lastly, Great family values also promote professionalism and integrity.

I would like to move back to Utah, but the state does not pay many professions well compared to neighboring states.

Utah also has one of the lowest rates of STD infections.
Unchecked sexual degeneracy will ruin any society.

While there are no ghettos like you would find in New York City or Baltimore or Chicago, parts of downtown Salt Lake City are pretty rough. Ironically, downtown SLC is the least religious part of the entire state.

That being said, Utah as a whole, as well as Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, have been able to buck the globalist idea that diversity is a strength, and embraced the idea that homogeneity leads to less violent crime, less sexual assualt, less welfare, less homelessness, higher test scores, and a better outlook on life.

My biggest concern with the above-mentioned states is with Idaho. With the influx of California expats traveling to that state, I fear it's only a matter of time before some of California's more radical liberal policies infect and overwhelm Idaho's system.

I don't think any of the other states you mentioned will be immune to this phenomenon. But also the number of California political refugees has to be taken into consideration in the emigration numbers.

It's only a matter of time before most, if not all, western states become Californicated. Even long time conservative states are seeing their major cities turn blue due to indoctrination at the universities...the stories coming out of Missoula and Laramie come to mind. I think the turn towards blue will be slower in Wyoming and Montana than Idaho simply because the formers are so sparsely populated compared to the latter. Idaho does have a large Mormon population so that will stem the tide of indoctrination to a certain extent. But one just has to look to Seattle, Portland, Austin, or Denver to see what the eventuality will be. But even Boise State, in conservative Idaho, is facing an indoctrination issue.

Idaho Legislator: State Considering Defunding Leftist Agenda on Boise State Campus

"Because a lot of the things that are being brought in are things that we’re seeing happening in other states,” said Nichols. “Diversity programs, and [racially] segregated graduations, and gender inclusive equity centers, things along those lines.”

“And we just had recently — within this last week —*a report*that came out,” she added, “they’re going to be remodeling the student union building, and they want to incorporate gender inclusive restrooms throughout the building and that their plan is to eventually do that throughout the whole campus.”

Boyle mentioned that the school’s*student newspaper*recently reported that the remodeling will also include “permanent prayer space for all.”

“So in other words,” said Boyle, “what they’re doing now is they’re going to having essentially Muslim prayer rooms on the campus of Boise State University?”

“And that’s what we’re saying,” said Nichols, “where is this stuff coming from? Why are we bringing this into [our school]? This has nothing to do with educating, this is political correctness running*amok — why are we doing this? What are we catering this to?”
