Im looking at a school in Utah and I'm wondering if I'll be able to date and have a social life if I'm not religious. I read a review by a guy from Utah State and he said he didn't have much of a social life because mormon girls only want to date mormon guys. Is there any truth to this? I dated a mormon girl while I was at the U of Hawaii but mormons are the minority there so I think she had no choice but to date outside of the religion.

Default Math of Dating

Well if you are going to the University of Utah, which is only 50% LDS, then you will have 50% of the girls who are non-LDS in your pool. Plus you may get the bonus of those LDS girls who will go out with you (it does happen, as apparently you have experienced). 20000 single students x 50% female x 50% non-LDS = potential pool of 5,000 girls.

If you go to BYU, which is 95% LDS, your pool will be about 10% (assuming those LDS girls who will go out with you make up 5% of the pool). 15,000 single students x 50% female x 10% = potential pool of 750 girls.

If you go to USU, UVU, SUU, or Dixie State, which are all in between, then your results would be in between.

I'm a Mormon girl who dated non Mormon boys, just respect their values and you'll be fine. I know lots of Mormon girls who have dated non members too.

But then the issue of marriage, if it ever comes up, will never occur unless you convert correct???

My sister married a mormon guy and she never converted. They just can't be sealed in the temple, but they can get married.

Default hmmm

I agree that is critical where you go to school. The University of Utah would be the best by far.
Utah has a pretty bad night life... combined with a reduced pool... well, in other terms... it will not be easy... doable... yes.

I would recommend you don't move here... but that is just me, I am moving out! cant take the intolerance.

HAHA, if you DO date here, just be prepared to propose within 6 months - or the relationship is OVER... heh, just kidding (sort of) - BUT people do get married awfully fast and awfully young that what I am used to.

Try living in the south if your not a southerner. Talk about uneducated, uncultured, close minded people. My main reason for moving is trying to get away from a situation where I can't have a social life. That and ridiculously low wages and crappy weather.
