everything here is cheaper, from utilities, to auto insurance, to groceries (except orange juice), to property taxes.

Default I love these threads

Even if you were to find a "major" city with a smaller percentage of the population being LDS, what's the point? You are still in Utah, and by default, Utah is largely an LDS state.

Sure you can live in Park City, however, you've got to leave the area at some point and venture into the scary LDS world of Utah.

As for children, kids are kids. And while some LDS kids may not socialize with them because they aren't LDS, in large part, it's not an overt attempt to exclude them, but rather, it's simply an act of omission. LDS kids have their LDS youth groups and their seminary classes where they socialize with many of their other LDS friends, if you kid isn't there, they miss out. So, they key to having non-LDS kids getting a solid peer group is having them get involved in some sort of activity such as sports, band, choir, community service groups, etc...they'll find more than enough friends to keep them busy, both LDS and non-LDS alike.

We've just returned to Utah after living in various states for the past 14 years and my children have friends of all faiths here in our area.

But in reality, you aren't going to find a "major city" in Utah that doesn't have a significant LDS population. That's not a good or a bad thing, it's just the way it is.

I have found that insurance is much cheaper here. NJ is EXPENSIVE. Maybe you should shop around. I have never heard of insurance being more expensive here than on the east coast.

My car insurance doubled from the DC area. I was told it was due to a larger number of uninsured drivers.

I agree car insurance is cheap in Utah. In Oklahoma mine didn't double but went up quite a bit.

Mine dropped so much from SoCal, 2/3rds, that I called the insurance guy to make sure he had everything covered! And, the funny thing is, it's the same company we had in SoCal too!
