I think like maybe 30. I'm not real sure. But trust me, go to the one in Orem, and arrive there either early when it opens, or in the middle of the noon hour if you don't get up and out early.....like me....lol.

When I took my youngest to get her permit, we were in and out (test included) in an hour.

I kept my DC license for 4 months, but mine expired the day after I went to get it changed to the Utah one.

My husband kept his for 8 maybe 9 months before changing over.

When we moved back here from Texas recently, I had to take the written test. It was open book, very easy, took 15 minutes if that. Every answer is right there in the booklet they give you, there's no reason to sweat it. It's very basic.

BUT - I had to laugh about this though. There were quite a few of us taking this test, and once finished we'd bring it up to the counter where this DMV worker would grade it, and tell you the results. It was hilarious; he had a loud, booming voice, and wasn't impatient, just blunt. So as I'm taking the test I kept hearing things such as:

"40 percent! Congratulations, you fail! How you fail an open book test is beyond me, but somehow you did. Thankfully, you will not be driving on the road next to me!"

and

"Once again folks, another Einstein has failed an open book test. I don't know how you do you it! Day after day, all you people line up, take open book tests, fail them for some incomprehensible reason, and try to blame me for it!"

"You failed, surprise surprise. You did realize this was open book, right? That means you can actually open the book and find the answer. You realized this, right?"

The whole time I'm taking this 'test', if you can even call it that, I kept laughing to myself hearing this guy trying not explode over the steady flow of flunkies. Hilarious.

I was able to scoot by on something like three years with my Montana license. I got pulled over once or twice for speeding, and they would always ask "How long have you lived in Utah? 2 years! Go in and get a Utah license."

I think you've got something like three months, but if you are a careful driver you shouldn't have any worries about your out of state license.
