It's early but it happens. One Halloween I took my kids in a major snowstorm.

I heard this too. Driving down from IF, first winter here, driving back in the dark, pretty worried about it.

If you are driving from Idaho Falls and there is a blizzard just drive slow on the Malad pass....that can be treacherous. Years ago we slid of the road and almost hit a huge semi....said a quick prayer then as all my kids were in the car.

Yeah, if the Malad pass gets too bad, they will actually close it. Always good to check the weather before driving that way in the winter.

Woke up to about 1/2" here on the Herriman bench south of SLC. Most of it has melted already. They were really hyping it up on the weather, it seems to have fizzled or maybe the main brunt hit somewhere else.

just saw it on CNN headlines news....congrats SLC ! Historically, when snow comes this early, does it mean it will snow a lot early in the season or does it bear no relevance whatsoever ?

It looks like parts to north of me, like Bountiful area, are getting 'Lake Effect' snow. If you go here, you can check the live weather cams to get an idea. Of course the ski resorts have snow:
