I am moving to Tooele. I can't believe how expensive rent is. I found a mobile home park that looks fairly decent - Overpass Park. It's the mobile home park by the movie theater. Not very prestigious - but it's a better value then a small house. Does anyone know anything about it? Anything is appreciated - thank you

It is a fairly nice park, as far as some of them go. I don't hear about too much trouble down there. Of course, there is trouble everywhere, no place is immune, but it is pretty nice.

It is a better trailer park than some that I have seen. A bit judgemental to assume that every trailer park has drugs. Maybe many of them do, this one might also, but TealPiano already stated that the rents for a small house are a bit more expensive then they were probably planning on.
In that case, of all the trailer parks that are in Tooele, this one is probably the best one out there. Remember, there are also homes that are in an upperscale area that are meth homes. Can't judge a book by its cover.

What does IMHO mean? And I've seen some posts that say "DH" - what does that mean?

Either way, I could get a 700 sq. ft. house for 750/mo or 1100 mobile home for the same price. Plus they aren't charging me extra for my pets. I am not able to live in the income restricted apartments so there are only two that I am able to live in. One of them is full and the other doesn't take pets. I'm 25 SF moving by myself from 1,500 miles away - I'm keepin the pets! However, you have to pass a background check to live there so it can't be too bad.

IMHO means In my Humble Opinion and DH is dear husband.

Good for you for keeping the pets! It isn't that bad, really. Have you had a chance to see them?

Sorry, but a young SF moving to a trailer park IMHO is scary. God gave us the ability to "judge" for a reason. My wisdom and ability to make GOOD judgements most of the time (not all) has forced me to make some tough calls, but in the end they were the smart decsions and looking back I am glad I made certain sacrifices. While all trailer parks may not have drugs, MOST do. I would opt for the smaller 750 sq ft place over the trailer... and 2x on Sunday.

No disrespect, but choose safety first. You are 25, in time you will surely advance in your career/job and make more money, possibly get married and live in a larger place.

your pets will also thank you for choosing safety first.

Yes, but that's YOU, not HER. She really didn't ask what YOU would do, she asked if anyone knew what the park was like, which I do. Is it the best she could be living in? No, I am sure it isn't. No place is perfect. I live in a very nice neighborhood and just today my neighbor's home was broken into. Is it better than some places that she might find on a limited budget? Yes, without a doubt.

So, good for you for making those decisons in your life that turned out for the best. May we all be so blessed, but don't judge other people who might not have the means necessary to make any other choice in their lives at that current time.

wow! kaytidid... you seem very self defensive on the trailer park scene...Is that because anything West of the Valley tends to be LESS desireable? (aka places like stansbury park). Let's just call a spade a spade. A home in your neighborhood was just broken into you say??? WOW, where I live no one has had a break in lately (and I would know since my brother is a cop in the area)... SOME places are just SAFER, but they cost more to live at or you have to sacrifice sq footage to stay in your price range. If this girl can afford to spend "X" then she should opt for the apt or small rental home over the plush trailer in the park. She's 25 and has her entire life ahead of her... why not start out on the right foot..trailer parks are uaually a "last resort" type of situation. And yes, I've seen quite a bit of UT, and the trailer parks West of SLC ain't all that - they are depressing no matter where you are - they are TRAILER PARKS!!!.

Oh and last I checked... this is an open forum, she asked the question... you are not the only one on here with an opinion. My opinion is to opt for the smaller place in the safer area. Trailer parks ain't nothing but trouble.... how do I know? I just asked my bro who is a cop... many times the public doesn't even hear about the terrible stuff going on in those types of places. And the fact that YOU know what the trailer park scene is like, means you live way to close to one!

Let's get this girl started off on the right foot in UT... good men don't want to date a woman from a trailer park... she needs a respectable address. My bet is that at age 25, she will meet someone and maybe get married and get a bigger place... just a hunch... but like I said... most quality men won't be trolling the trailer parks looking for mrs. right.

Sorry just keepin' it real!

BE SAFE!
