So I've only lived in Utah for 18 months (but who is counting) and I have been terribly disappointed in the food. Pizza especially has been a big let down. I come from a rural farming town in PA and Mickey Mouse land in FL so I don't think I have international tastes or that I am some kind of eurosnob. But really, its been tough for us (I kid).

We had Pie pizza a few months ago after everyone told us it was the greatest, and to be honest, it was nothing special. I've been told by fellow Easterners with similar issues that it has to do with the dough and the water out here. I don't know.

But after reading the last few pages of this thread, I will try this Settabello place and give it a whirl.

Don't be too mean to this Utah n00b, I am trying to assimilate!

Keep hope (for good pizza) alive!

A new spot opened up in Park City-Maxwells, out near the Newpark Hotel at Kimball Junction. Good pizza-I know it is not SLC but you never know when you need a new place to try. My friends rave about Big Apple-they are all from Jerzee. I just don't get it and I think the price there is $$. Gimme thin crust from Pizza Hut over that but I will try Stoneground-heard lots of good stuff bout that place.

Settebello by far. Este second. I've tried The Pie once and thought it was gross. I became a bit of a pizza snob after spending a lot of time working in the NE and South Florida (transplanted New Yorkers brought pizza with them). Most pizza joints put way too much sauce, cheese and toppings on their pies and neglect the crust. If the crust can't hold the stuff, there's way too much stuff! Settebello's margherita is suberb.

Speaking of too much stuff on a pizza, does any place serve deep dish Chicago style around SLC?

Unos?

The Pie is by far the best Pizza in Utah...Settebello is good but pricey for a tiny "Quesodilla Pizza," I'd have to eat 9 of those stupid tiny things to even get remotely full.
