Just a day or two I could spend in the Moah area or near Monument Valley. Any suggestions on Arches, Canyonland, etc. All help appreciated.
i will be out that way the first part of November, and will have a couple of days to spend.; thanks

it depends on what you want to do. if you just want to drive through, see as much as possible, and get out of the car only for short stops, i'd do both. if you want to concentrate on something specific, let us know what activity or preferred scenery. both areas are exceptional.

Whichever area, you need two things and a healthy body and legs.

Water, a camera that can take gazillion of pics.

You will never run out of views, or opportunities to take incredible pictures, any time of the day.
Good legs (in good walking shoes), because some areas are only accessible by foot.

A bit north of Moab is an airport and they have rides available.
No idea at what cost, but it would be a possibility ....

We fly Powered Parachutes in that area, so attached a taste of what it does look like.

Thank you Belle.
You have no idea what Utah really looks like until you start flying above the canyons at 30 miles per hour.
Another incredible area, The Swells, south of I-70, about 60 miles west of Green River.
We have a slogan:
If you drive around Utah in a car,
you see mostly nothing ....
If you fly a Powered Parachute,
you see everything ....

Here a link to my photo album to enjoy:

Wow! Thanks for sharing - I will never see those sights in person b/c I am scared of heights.

I would suggest driving around as much of the area as you can. The areas around Moab, including Canyonlands and Arches are beautiful. The areas between there and Monument Valley are beautiful, too, though, so it's worth seeing as much of it as you can. Don't forget about some of the lesser known places, too, such as Dead Horse Point State Park and Valley of the Gods. The drive along the Colorado River between Cisco and Moab is spectacular, too.

My reason for suggesting this is that it will give you some ideas for return trips in the future. By identifying places that you like, it gives you a place to check out further on a return visit. After you visit the area, I can practically guarantee you will want to return.

With the limited time you will have, I'm sure you won't have time to see everything that you want to see. This is why I suggest driving and seeing as much as you can, then planning to make a return trip in the future.

Are you flying or driving? Where are you coming too? It makes a difference in terms of the itinerary I might suggest.

Uhmmm ....
I am loosing you.
I guess if you have 4 days to *kill*, you could go north to Moab and then back again.

The road from Farmington to Moab is one of the boring routes, since you will be going via Cortez I assume. Indian land, so low speed ....
