Last night I watched the Rocky vs. Hannity debate and all I can say is I'm glad I'm not a resident of Utah. He made himself look like the biggest idiot ever. How he can sit there and give the same speech over and over 400 times gets me. He also couldn't answer all the questions with a straight answer. Instead he had to give a 5 minute explanation about....THE SAME thing he said earlier in his 30 presentation. I don't even think he knows that 9/11 even happened. He sat there and blamed Bush for the war and said that America had no threat against them. Bullsh*t. Well maybe Bush did know that 9/11 was a possibility...but he is not to blame for the war. He declared war..but he didn't start the war. We in no way asked for 9/11 to happen. Had we just sat back and did nothing about it they could have attacked us again. I don't agree 100% with war, but I do agree that some for of action should have taken place. I have a few friends and family over their fighting for our country and a few that have just joined. All of them want to go and fight and agree with the war. Not saying that all military men/women agree with the war. But why join the military if you know there is a possibility of going to war if you dont agree with it?
Last nights debate was a good one!

What does everyone else think?

Default the ACLU Lawyer

Yes, Rocky's a complete idiot. It's a shame he's from Logan (such a nice place). I saw the debate too, it was great.

I've been wondering how Rocky was doing as Mayor - I moved way before Rocky won. So, what's your learned opinion - just an idiot in the debates or an idiot full time?
Some of "us" always got happy when somebody who seemed to be anti-powers-that-be won something in Utah. I enjoyed Scott Matheson as governor and although I can no longer remember why, enjoyed Ted Wilson's mayoral reign - but enough about me. What about my namesake?

I love having Rocky as Mayor. Yes he does things that ruffles the old guard's feathers, but I believe the younger people of SLC love him. He actually tries to make changes in SLC rather than sitting back and letting the church indirectly dictate everything. I think he and the SLC council are excellent contrasts. I met Rocky as I was coming off the plane in the Boston's Logan Airport. He was presumably getting on a flight back to SLC so he was at our gate. Rocky was going through some papers on his lap and looked quite busy. I asked him if he was Rocky Anderson and he jumped up to greet my wife and I. I told him we were from SLC and appreciated what he does for SLC. He seemed very genuine. My wife and I were impressed that he told some time to chat with us and offered a friendly hand shake.

I dont think he is an idiot all the time..just during that debate. I felt bad for him when Hannity was calling him out of his lies. Im sure Anderson is a good guy and I have nothing against him, I just think he was not well prepared for that debate. He just had this 10 page speech he always gives..and nothing else.

Rocky has cost Utah millions of dollars. He stopped the legacy highway back in the nineties when they already started building and then had to stop when he and his Burkenstock wearing granola eating B.O. hounds protested it. He's just a media ***** looking to garner attention from the Democrats so he can be their favorite puppet. And since the the Leftists in Downtown SLC feel suffocated in RedState Utah, they gladly show love to His clearly Liberal ways.

I can understand both sides of this SKI although you'll have to refresh me: The Legacy Highway ... is that the one they were talking about building west of I-15 north of Salt Lake?
I'm glad you understand how the "left" in Utah feels, i.e., left out! It does make for an extra factor in the faction that may not be as healthy as in a more moderate state.
I chuckle a touch at your long rendition of "I Hate Yuppies". I come from the Mother Earth Generation ... which pre-dates the Yups. My generation was into making their own sandals ... not paying a paycheck for a pair. And I really only recall BO at 3-day concerts and tag-football games. I also remember granola almost as well as I remember my own teeth! But I've got issues with the Yup crowd myself. Hippies weren't meant to turn into that!
Now, I guess I have to find out who this "Hannity" person is - gad, don't tell me he/she's from Hannity & Combs???
I enjoyed a couple of months back when Rocky called for Bush to resign or to be impeached or some such. That's just not something you hear from Utah!
Sounds like some folks like him. I was surprised to find Elder Shawn speak highly of him ... I had somehow conceived Elder Shawn to be very much right-aligned (am I right, E.S.?) just from the handle.
I personally think it will do the valley good to have less conventional folks in charge for a while - there are so many folks who've lived there for decades and suffered through the otherwise majority-rule. I used to be one of them. Things run in cycles, Ski. If the current vibe weakens, the old-guard will be back for a while. Sort of like Utah weather - it's bound to change!

U left out Flower Sniffer

RockyMtnr I am somewhat conservative on some things, but I've opened my mind since attending the Univ of Utah and living out of state for a few years. Many people in Utah on the right tend to shut off their brain when someone disagrees with what they think they (or their parents) believe. For example my parents think Rocky is the biggest !@#!@# in the world and they live in Ogden. People outside of SLC hate his guts, but I've come to respect him for standing up for what he believes in. He didn't pull the wool over anyone's eyes to get elected over and over. They knew exactly what he was and what he would do when elected. I enjoy listening to his question and answer sessions downtown each week during the farmer's market. He addresses all those present with respect....it doesn't matter if the person is homeless, flower sniffer, or Mormon clone. I've noticed him walking around downtown on Friday and Sat nights getting a feel on the nightlife. I can only imagine if we had a repub mayor....he'd be in bed by 6:30 pm and wouldn't be checking in on the pulse of the city.

Oh, man. You are on the slippery slope. The next thing you know, you will be thinking people from California are OK. Maybe you should consider taking a couple of online Poli-Sci courses through the Y. It might reverse the effects of all that U of U commie-socialist indoctrination.
