I am seriously considering a move to Tooele Utah. I have gathered so much information I think my mind will combust. My problem is it often conflicts. Can anyone give me a first hand report on the area, and on the winters and snow? I'm an old Californian.

Well I live in SLC not Tooele but I have been there many times. It does seem like a nice, laid back, small town kinda living. Because it is not "protected" by the mountains like the SL valley is. it can get pretty windy. Winters can get fairly cold here. It can get about 20-30. But there is also a lot of 30-40 winter days. Because of the wind and lack of "protection" the cold and snow can get pretty bad at times in Tooele. It is right next to the mountains though so there is a lot of great hiking, fishing, camping. Utah is a haven for outdoorsy people! I think Tooele would be a great place to live. And like you asked in the other thread I really don't think gangs would be a problem at all in Tooele.

Tooele really is nice. We are in Grantsville and love it. The snow this winter wasn't bad (but I am from Colorado, so my perspective is different). It's a small town feel and we love that!

I lived in Tooele in the 80s. Had both my girls in that tiny little hospital. I loved it and had many friends. We are not LDS but they seemed to let me join in on most stuff anyway. After being transferred to Germany (husband worked at the base there) several of my friends from that tiny town back them visted me. I WONDER WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE NOW that I haven't been there in 20 years. I bet it is not tiny anymore. It took 11 years to sell my house there and now it would probably be worth a fortune.

Debbie, you say it took 11 years to sell your house? Did you "mispoke" or is that "mispeak" by any chance? <G>
I've never heard of a house taking 11 years to sell. Well, I sure hope so as I have my Highland house up for sale.
Eddie

Sure did. I rented it to a lady and she wouldn't show the house and I lived in Germany at the time. so, when she decided to retire, I was able to sell it. It sold for what I bought it for though and that was a disapointed to say the least. Now, I sold that house I would say about 15 years ago. Let me see I lived in it for 3 years, when had 3 more assignments so it was more about 9 years after leaving.

Well, I guess if you like the small-town feel then Tooele would be okay, but it's growing fast.

Personally, to me, Tooele is pretty ugly and unattractive. But hey, my opinion isn't everyone's opinion.

Hi! I have lived in Tooele County for a decade and really like it! It is a smaller town and suprisingly for Utah, quite diverse! It is in the desert, so it is by no means lush and beautiful. There are however a few canyons for camping and hiking that are pretty. It is definetely windy! More so on the south side of Tooele. We do get quite a bit of snow here, again more so on the south side of Tooele. Stansbury Park, which is closer to Salt Lake City by ten miles, doesn't seem to get as much snow, but often gets lake effect from the Great Salt Lake. Tooele, being 45 miles from Salt Lake City, is much slower paced. There is not a lot of commerce here. Walmart and Home Depot are our biggest and only box stores. We have two grocery stores, three if you count Grantsville, 10 miles west, and only a few restaurants.
It is a nice town if you like a smaller town feel!
